Sonia Kwok

Sonia was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She has a younger brother who she used to fight a lot with when she little. As a kid, Sonia loved playing cricket afterschool, doing cartwheels on her lawn and riding her bike on the footpath.

At primary school, Sonia was the only Chinese girl in the whole school. Because of this, her daddy was worried that she wouldn’t know how to speak Chinese so sent her and her brother to ‘chinese school’ every Saturday morning. After high school, Sonia did a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney and before coming to Hong Kong, Sonia did her Diploma in Education.

After university, Sonia came to Hong Kong for a short holiday and is still here after 14 years. She taught English and Literature at Marymount Secondary School and was a Native English Teacher at SKH Lui Ming Choi Secondary School. Because Sonia loves teaching English so much, she also did her Master of Arts in Linguistics at the University of Hong Kong.

In her spare time, Sonia likes going out with her husband and three year old boy. She also likes reading magazines, cooking, yoga and keeping in touch with her friends and ex-students on Facebook.
